WSYX6 Columbus Weather

We're going to get warm and humid again today. It's going to feel like summer for a couple of days before we return to spring-like temperatures again on Sunday.

FRIDAY: partly to mostly cloudy, warm and humid, pop-up storms in the afternoon, high 85.
FRIDAY NIGHT: showers and storms early, mostly cloudy, muggy, low 68.
SATURDAY: scattered showers in the morning, thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening, isolated severe storms possible, breezy, high 82.
SUNDAY: storms ending, clearing during the day, much cooler, less humid, high 68.

High pressure is packing up and leaving. As it goes, we'll be on the back side of the system with a warm, humid, southerly/southwesterly flow. Our temps will jump back up into the mid-80s and it'll feel warmer than that with all the humidity. Pop-up showers and thunderstorms are possible in that unstable atmosphere.

A cold front moves into the state on Saturday. The models disagree a bit on the timing but they agree that we're facing a day full of showers and thunderstorms. SPC even puts us in the "Marginal Risk" category for severe storms which means isolated severe storms are possible with large hail and strong winds. If you have early-morning outdoor activities planned, you'll want to keep an eye on the radar and be ready to dodge some showers. If you have afternoon and evening outdoor activities scheduled, you may want to consider an indoor backup plan.

Once the front passes, high pressure will return to the area. We'll start to do some clearing by mid-morning Sunday and continue to improve throughout the day. Temperatures will be much cooler on Sunday as the new air mass slides into place. High pressure will keep things quiet for the first half of next week.
