Man Shot After Tracking Stolen Tablet to South Columbus Home

COLUMBUS (Steve Levine) -- A Columbus man recovered in the hospital Monday after being shot while searching for his stolen tablet.

Friends say Mark Gobie, 30, got into a confrontation with a man after he used a GPS tracker to find his stolen Samsung Galaxy tablet at a home on Allison Drive in south Columbus.

A neighbor who asked not to be identified said, they had some words, I couldnt hear what he was saying. The woman said she then watched the man who came out of the home, pull a gun from the back of his pants and shoot Gobie in the foot, it went pop, pop, pop, she said.

Gobie, who filed a police report on the stolen tablet last month, was taken to Grant Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the foot.

Columbus Police are searching for a suspect with short blonde hair who fled the scene in the Jeep.

Police warn you should never try and find your stolen items with a GPS tracker by yourself, contact law enforcement and let officers handle the investigation.
