UPDATE: Burned Horse Recovering

Updated: Friday, February 8 2013, 09:41 AM EST
COLUMBUS -- Northstar, the 6-year-old horse that someone set on fire, is recovering, but he still has a long way to go.

ABC6 reporter Carol Luper spent time at the OSU vet center today and got to see Northstar's recovery first hand.

The owners brought the badly burned horse to Ohio from their home in Pennsylvania in September.

He was burned over 40% of his body, but he's getting medications and skin grafts to help him heal.

His care is being paid for by an anonymous donor and others who are making contributions.

So far the cost is up to fifty thousand dollars, but the University is not bearing the cost of his care.

No word yet on when Northstar can go home.

The Northstar Equine Critical Care Fund was established in honor of this brave horse, to help others in need of financial assistance for their critical care.
