ALTERNATIVE: GRAMMY NOMINATIONS ARE OUT TODAY
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Coldplay is expected to be one of the big contenders when the Grammy nominations are announced tonight. Their "Viva La Vida" album was both a best-seller and a favorite of the critics. Leona Lewis and Duffy are also favorites to be nominated, as are Katy Perry, The Eagles and Alicia Keys. Then there's Alison Krauss. She's got 21 Grammys already, the most of any female artist. Her "Raising Sand" album with Robert Plant is expected to get attention from the Grammys as well. The Grammy nominations will be revealed tonight during "The Grammy Nominations Concert Live!" on CBS.POP/R&B: JENNIFER HUDSON'S ESTRANGED BROTHER-IN-LAW CHARGED WITH MURDERS CHICAGO (AP) -- The estranged husband of Jennifer Hudson's sister has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder. Prosecutors in Chicago have formally charged William Balfour in the shooting deaths of Hudson's mother, brother and seven-year-old nephew in October. Balfour had been in prison on a parole violation. Balfour's attorney says he has spoken with his client and Balfour maintains he's innocent. <
POP: BRITNEY SPEARS ANNOUNCES TOUR
NEW YORK (AP) -- Britney Spears' Circus is coming to town. Spears is planning her first arena tour in five years beginning March 3 in New Orleans. The Pussycat Dolls will be the opening act. Her new album, "Circus," is in stores this week.
POP: BRITNEY TOPS YAHOO SEARCH TERMS FOR 2008
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Is it any wonder that Britney Spears tops Yahoo's list of top searches of 2008? In the past year she was involved in a custody dispute with Kevin Federline, she was ordered to stay in the hospital, her dad was named her conservator, her mom accused Sam Lutfi of taking over Spears' life, she appeared on "How I Met Your Mother," and she put out an album. The number-two search on Yahoo was WWE, followed by Barack Obama, Miley Cyrus and Runescape.
ROCK: JIMI HENDRIX GUITAR STRAP TO BE AUCTIONED
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The guitar strap Jimi Hendrix used at Woodstock is about to be auctioned. The memorabilia auction house, Profiles in History, is expecting the strap to sell for between $25,000 and $35,000. The auction will be Dec. 11 and can be viewed that day at www.ebayliveauctions.com or www.LiveAuctioneers.com.
ROCK: JETHRO TULL RESCHEDULE MUMBAI CONCERT
MUMBAI, India (AP) -- Jethro Tull have rescheduled their concert in Mumbai. The band is touring India and had planned to perform in Mumbai last Saturday. However, because of the attacks by a group of gunmen, Jethro Tull moved the concert to this Friday. All their artist fees will go to local charities there.
ROCK: KID ROCK WILL BE MARDI GRAS PARADE GRAND MARSHAL
NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- The decadence of Mardi Gras plus Kid Rock could be a perfect fit. Rock will serve as Grand Marshal of the 2009 Endymion parade in New Orleans Feb. 21, according to The Times-Picayune. He'll also be the headline performer.
ROCK: BRIAN `HEAD' WELCH ON `L.A. INK'
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Former Korn guitarist Brian "Head" Welch will be showing off his new tattoo on TV. He will be featured on "L.A. Ink" on TLC tomorrow. The segment was taped earlier this summer.
ALTERNATIVE: CUTE IS WHAT WE AIM FOR WILL HEADLINE `TAKE ACTION' TOUR
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Cute Is What We Aim For will headline the next "Take Action" Tour. The charity tour's purpose is to raise funds and awareness for youth involvement in charitable action. The not-for-profit organization DoSomething.org will benefit from the funds raised by the tour.
ROCK: APRIL WINE SINGER SUFFERS HEAD INJURY
UNDATED (AP) -- Singer-guitarist Myles Goodwyn of April Wine is recovering from a head injury. The band's Web site reports Goodwyn collapsed on the way to the airport in Montreal Friday. He suffered a cut on his head that needed six stitches. Doctors did further tests and found he had internal bleeding as well. Goodwyn was in the hospital Friday and Saturday but is home now. He lost a lot of blood and will need rest, which means some of the band's Canadian dates have been rescheduled. April Wine are probably best known in the U.S. for the songs "Just Between You And Me" and "Enough is Enough."
