MICHAEL JACKSON - JERMAINE WISHES IT HAD BEEN HIM

LOS OLIVOS, Calif. (AP) -- Jermaine Jackson says he'd be "hurt" if it turns out his brother Michael abused prescription drugs. He told NBC's "Today" show that "you never know what one turns to" to handle the pressures of show business. Jackson says he wishes it had been him, not Michael, who died. He says Michael "went too soon."

MICHAEL JACKSON - FORMER CONFIDANTES SAY JACKSON GOT WHATEVER DRUGS HE WANTED

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Two former confidantes of Michael Jackson say they tried to get him to stop abusing painkillers. Uri Geller says he told Jackson he was "going to die" if he kept taking the pills, but he says Jackson just stared at him. Geller says others close to Jackson supplied him with drugs. He says, "When Michael asked for something, he got it. This was the great tragedy." Jackson's former bodyguard agrees with Geller. He says he and Geller once found Jackson so spaced out they shook him trying to sober him up, but it didn't work.

MICHAEL JACKSON - UNRELEASED MUSIC

NEW YORK (AP) -- Michael Jackson left a huge amount of unreleased recordings in a vault. The music will almost certainly be packaged and repackaged for years to come. There are unused tracks from some of his best albums as well as songs he recorded more recently with Akon and will.i.am. Former Sony CEO Tommy Mottola says the releases "could go on for years and years, even more than Elvis."

MICHAEL JACKSON - PRESIDENT OBAMA DEFENDS NOT RELEASING STATEMENT AFTER JACKSON DEATH

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Obama is defending himself for not making a formal public statement when Michael Jackson died. In an interview with the AP, Obama said, "Look, you're the first person who's actually asked me about it." Obama went on to say that Jackson was "one of our greatest entertainers," but that he also lived a "tragic and in many ways sad personal life."

NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- The Essence Music Festival kicks off today in New Orleans and Lionel Richie hopes it'll provide some comfort following Michael Jackson's death. The festival runs through Sunday.

"AMERICAN IDOL" TOUR STARTS SUNDAY

BURBANK, Calif. (AP) -- Kris Allen is looking forward to the "American Idol" tour that starts Sunday, but he's also a bit concerned about how it'll affect his marriage. Allen says he'll have to learn how to deal with being on the road while his wife is at home. He says it's important that they "keep that bond" even though they won't always be together. As for the show itself, Allen expects it to be more energetic than the performances on the TV show because it'll be easier to loosen up in front of a large crowd. The tour kicks off in Portland, Oregon.
