"THE EXPRESS" - ROB BROWN
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Rob Brown felt a great responsibility playing Ernie Davis, the first black football player to win the Heisman Trophy. Brown says he felt responsible to Davis' memory, to his family, to Syracuse University, to the Cleveland Browns, who drafted him and his teammates. Brown feels he did all right in the football scenes. He was a receiver at Amherst College, so he had some experience. Brown says he was happy to run around because he was being paid to play a game he loved. "The Express" opens today.
DEBRA MESSING: GETTING RE-"STARTED"
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Debra Messing says a lot of women could relate to being a "starter wife." She says there were a lot of women who came up to her after her miniseries aired last year to say they were dumped by their husbands because they were looked upon as "starters." She's happy the six-parter has been made into a full fledged series. It starts tonight on USA Network. As for the role she's most known for, in "Will and Grace?" She's moved on. She says the new series leaves her "no time to mourn" Grace -- but plenty of time to celebrate her new role as Molly. On the 'Net: USA Network site: http://www.usanetwork.com
CARRIE FISHER - "WISHFUL DRINKING"
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Carrie Fisher feels "you're only as sick as your secrets," which must make her the sanest person on Earth. Fisher leaves no secret hidden in her one-woman show "Wishful Drinking." Fisher dishes about her drug abuse, her love life, her dad Eddie Fisher leaving her mom Debbie Reynolds for Elizabeth Taylor and, of course, "Star Wars." She says talking about all her problems in public is like "walking in a room and saying, `OK, I'm ten pounds overweight." That gives her control over it and no one else can saying anything about it. Wishful Drinking starts a two-week run tonight in Boston. Fisher hopes to take the show to Broadway eventually.
"SURVIVOR" -- JACQUIE OUT
UNDATED (AP) -- "Survivor" isn't being very kind to the ladies this season. Last night, Jacquie the medical sales rep from California, got the bad news at the Tribal Council. She's the fourth woman voted off the show. So far, none of the guys have been cut by their tribemates. The tribes were reshuffled on last night's show and Jacquie came up short. She says if she hadn't been cut so early, she might have made it to the end. She adds her tribemates were "saving their own butts" when they voted her out. <
SNL THURSDAY-BILL MURRAY
NEW YORK (AP) -- SNL's Thursday night special didn't have Tina Fey, but they did have Bill Murray. "Saturday Night Live" is doing "Weekend Update Thursday" leading up to the elections. Last night was the first. Fey didn't do her dead-on Sarah Palin impression. But Murray returned to SNL, as an undecided voter asking a question during the town hall style debate. He wanted to know what the candidates would do to make sure the Chicago Cubs wouldn't lose again in the playoffs. They told him the Cubs would always be losers. <
TIM ROBBINS: GETTING HIS STAR
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- A big day for Tim Robbins. He gets his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame -- and the honor comes less than a week before he marks his 50th birthday. Among those at this side for the event will be his long-time partner Susan Sarandon. And, his star will be placed right next to hers along the famed patch of sidewalk in Los Angeles.
